In Northern Ireland, most of the population is Protestant. Although the Protestants and Catholics have clashed in Northern Ireland, they live peacefully side-by-side in the Republic.

The Catholic Church in the Irish Republic runs most of the schools, as well as some hospitals.

Dublin is home for many different religious groups. Minority religions include Judaism and Islam.
